Be a part of MURR Job Description The University of Missouri Research Reactor Facility (MURR) is seeking an engineer with training and experience in reactor and engineering analysis. This individual will assist the Reactor Operations Group in support of safe and reliable 24/7 operation of the high-performance MU Research Reactor by performing routine and complex assignments using standard reactor analysis computer programs. This position will work in a team dealing with several aspects of reactor operations including reactor utilization, fuel management, reactor and facility modifications, and will report directly to the Assistant Reactor Manager-Physics. Successful candidate will be extremely detail oriented and a persuasive communicator with exceptional organizational and time management skills. Candidate must be available to consistently work onsite. Key Duties performed by this position will include: Perform neutronic and thermal hydraulic analysis using industry standard software to support Reactor operation, Reactor utilization and Reactor modifications Work collaboratively with other MURR Groups to advance Reactor utilization Participate in Reactor experiments and maintenance activities Assist the Reactor Physics team in managing fuel inventory and fuel burnup estimates Become familiar with the NRC and the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations in order to assist with several key radioactive shipments originating from the Reactor and some radioactive material receipts Develop, review and modify procedures used in Reactor utilization Shift Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. including some nights and some weekends. Periodic on call service is also required. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Nuclear Engineering Experience in using standard reactor analysis programs such as MCNP, ORIGEN, RELAP & TRACE Experience with SolidWorks and/or COMSOL Familiarity with mathematical or scripting languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB Familiarity with NRC regulations Excellent spoken and writing skills in English Demonstrated ability to manage projects and working as part of a team Anticipated Hiring Range Salary Range: $73,008 - $85,000 per year Grade: GGS 010 University Title: Engineer I Internal applicants can determine their University title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
