Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Biller/Collector will:

  • Bill all claims within 30 days of discharge.
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts until balance is resolved.
  • Be responsible for documentation of all billing and collection efforts for outstanding accounts.
  • Ensure that balance on account is accurate and is posting to correct revenue center.
  • Have effective communication with Business Office Director and Chief Financial Officer regarding outstanding balances and any issues that may be delaying the collection of said balances.
  • Ensure accuracy of demographic information listed on patient account.
  • Have exceptional writing skills as will be writing appeals to contest denials received.
  • Knowledge of CMS billing guidelines.
  • Be able to read and understand provider billing manuals, as well as contracts between insurance payers and the facility.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of collections experience preferably within the healthcare setting.

SKILLS:

  • Must have strong writing and verbal skills.
  • Must have the ability to deal with all levels of hospital management and the public.
  • Knowledge of third-party payment procedures.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask.
  • Must have knowledge of health insurance terms.
