Description
Overview: The Manager of Meetings and events works in partnership with the Director of meetings and events, as well as commercial sales and marketing team members, to determine the appropriate strategies for commercial medical conferences, meetings, and special events. This role serves as the primary contact for select society and event partners to budget, manage, and design sponsorships, exhibits, and educational activities. Responsibilities:
- Manage commercial team conferences and special events for all business units, to include strategic planning, budgets, on-site execution, and post-activity debriefs, as assigned by the Director, Meetings & Events - Meetings & Events. Serve as the lead conference manager and point of contact for all society partners and third-party convention support agencies associated with those activities
- Oversee the process design, approvals workflow, and reporting for all Tier 4 sales and marketing conferences, including a strong working knowledge of Cvent SSM system design, management, and reporting
- Review and reconcile the Meeting and Events department budget related to major responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Meetings & Events - Meetings and Events, to include accurate and timely budget forecasting, payment management, and sponsorship, exhibit, and special event fee negotiations where applicable
- Attend relevant industry conventions/trade shows, symposia, physician training programs, conferences, and scientific meetings to gain the voice of customers and market insights for the strategic plan
- Manage relationships with key physicians, distributors, clinical investigators, and potential customers
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues in conference planning, including Steering Committee calls, and as it pertains to exhibit design and function
- Research competitive technologies in addition to medical, technical, and biomedical developments related to Sight Sciences' products
- Maintain a professional and credible image with key physicians, distributors, consultants, vendors, and co-workers
- Actively promote Sight Sciences' culture within the commercial operations department
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required. HMCC must be completed within 1 year of joining the company and maintained through employment. CMP and/or PMP preferred
- Minimum 5 to 7 years' related experience in meetings & events, medical meetings, and conference management. Cross-training in sales, brand marketing, or general project management will be considered
- Experience with Cvent Strategic Meetings Management software preferred, including system design and familiarity with Event Management modules
- Thorough working knowledge of the ophthalmic and optometric industries and/or general pharmaceutical and medical device background.
- Ability to exercise sound decision-making and good judgment consistent with a mid-level position
- Strong project management and time management skills
