GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Primary responsibilities include supporting existing financing programs and development and implementation of new programs, as well as investor relations and special project assignments. Secondary responsibilities include supporting other organizational functions related to finance, fundraising, grants administration, outreach and marketing, partner and vendor engagement and management, and related projects.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
  • Sourcing and Evaluating Investment Opportunities
    • Coordinate with Launch NY Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program Manager to source deals.
    • Participate in outreach and lead generation planning and programming, including virtual and in-person events.
    • Lead day-to-day activities related to investment processes, including applications, due diligence (financial analysis, market research, and operational assessments to determine investment viability), investment pitches, investment transactions, and portfolio management.
    • Engage, coordinate, and train client companies and Launch NY Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, personnel, and contractors regarding financial products and client financing providing training, consultation, financial transaction management, and related activities.
    • Lead syndication efforts for co- and follow-on investment.
    • Coordinate with partner organizations and ecosystem activities and events.
  • Portfolio Management and Support
    • In coordination with Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program Manager, actively support portfolio companies in areas such as strategic direction, fundraising, operational efficiency, and scaling.
    • Monitor portfolio performance, ensuring that companies meet growth targets and strategic milestones.
    • Develop, refine and report metrics from Microsoft Dynamics (CRM system) and Venture360 (fintech platform).
    • Support investor use of Venture 360.
    • Develop and manage partner and vendor relationships at the direction of Fund Manager.
    • Provide regular reporting on all functions to Senior Operations Manager and Fund Manager and as assigned, President and CEO and Board of Directors.
    • Coordinate with Launch NY personnel to support organizational needs in finance, accounting, grants administration, IT and CRM systems, fundraising, marketing, EIR and related programming, and other areas.
    • Work with Senior Operations Manager to maintain procedures, process and fund management.
  • Investor Relations
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for institutional investors, limited partners, and other ecosystem partners / stakeholders.
    • Lead quarterly and annual investor reports and meetings, ensuring transparent communication regarding portfolio performance, fund strategy, and market insights.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, addressing and providing strategic updates on fund and portfolio performance.
    • Develop investor education, network or other portfolio engagement with marketing team
  • Fundraising and Capital Raising
    • Support strategic planning and modeling for financial programs.
    • Support fundraising efforts, including outreach, investor/funder recruitment and onboarding, and reporting.
    • Establish and maintain marketing materials, data rooms, and other required documentation.
  • Market Research and Analysis
    • Conduct financial analysis and modeling related to financing programs and individual companies.
    • Create and manage documentation related to financing programs.
  • Manage day-to-day engagement with legal counsel supporting financing program activities.
  • Manage personnel as assigned by President & CEO and Fund Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by President & CEO and Fund Manager
Job Requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Three or more years' experience in relevant roles in financial programs operations.
  • One or more years' experience in direct financing to companies, including managing transaction documents.
  • Two or more year's experience in due diligence for direct company financing.
  • Two or more years' experience in developing and presenting financial models and proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal to moderate supervision in fulfilling work duties
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in relationships with multiple stakeholders involved in financial programs.
  • Ability to develop and manage financials and project budgets with strong Excel and other digital financial tools capabilities.
  • General understanding of capitalization tables and legal terminology related to venture capital.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and passion regarding the challenges and priorities of a startup organization, entrepreneurship and non-profit environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams, both externally and internally, on evolving initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a combination of on site and remote work environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and natural collaborative work style with strong proficiency in interacting via digital media and software tools, including Microsoft Office, social media, and other applications.
  • Desire to grow with the organization.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working with financial programs for businesses, especially involving equity financing for startup and early stage companies.
    • Experience in supporting administration of entrepreneurship and/or business assistance programs.
    • Experience implementing and using CRM and fund management software.
    • Proficiency with accounting and other financial program software.
B.A./B.S. in Business or Related Major or equivalent combination of education and work experience. MBA,
CPA, and/or other relevant advanced degree preferred in finance or accounting.
The Associate must be able to:
  • Work evenings or weekends during periods of heavy workload or to meet deadlines.
  • Attend periodic programs or events outside typical workday hours.
  • Sit and use a personal computer for long periods of time.
  • Lift boxes, binders, and other materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Use car, train, and/or airline travel as required.
