Job Description

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Senior Engineer, design electrical power, lighting and fire alarm systems for university renovation projects on the MU Columbia campus and other associated university sites.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Meet with representatives of University departments to review drawings, cost estimates, plan modifications, and construction progress.
  • Perform drafting of engineering drawings relating to building mechanical and/or electrical systems from sketches and oral instructions.
  • Measure existing facility and perform field observation of existing conditions to verify proposed designs consider existing field conditions.
  • Assist with writing design specifications, preparing project cost estimates, and/or reviewing project bids to evaluate adherence to project specification.
  • Assist engineer in layout of complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assist engineer in the review of contractor shop drawings and submittals.
  • Obtain measurement and test data, perform preliminary engineering calculations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineering Bachelor's degree from ABET accredited university

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 per year

Grade: GGS-010
