Our team in Space & Defense is looking for a Design Engineer Manager to join them. You will report to the Electro-Magnetic Engineering and Resource Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Blacksburg, VA

As a Design Engineer Manager,

You'll be responsible for the planning, organization, and direction of all design activities in the development of new products and for technical support for heritage products. You will provide support to the manufacturing team to assure operational readiness. Build and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team for analyzing product requirements, making cost and technical proposals, developing prototypes, finalizing the design, and design validation and verification. You will work with leadership to determine long term product, skill, and organizational needs.

Additional Responsibilities will include:

  • Driving new product development and continuous improvement of existing products and processes.

  • Presenting concepts, data, and recommendations to management and customers in formal design reviews.

  • Participating in management level strategic planning related to new product development.

  • Driving innovation and creation of intellectual property.

  • Managing projects and activities in a multiple project environment to meet high demand schedules, cost targets, and technical requirements.

  • Providing leadership and supervision for the Engineering team to assure efficiency and effectiveness of team members.

  • Assist in the interviewing, hiring, appraisal, mentoring and professional development of department staff.

To be considered for Design Engineer Manager you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics.

  • 10 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • 5 years of experience with motion control systems with a preferred focus on rotary and/or linear electromechanical actuators.

  • 3 years of direct supervision / leadership experience.

  • 5 years of experience in project management.

  • Proven experience interfacing with customers

  • Ability to travel to customer sites to support sales and provide technical support (internationally and domestically).

Salary Range Transparency:

Blacksburg, VA $120,000.00-$150,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
