The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $66,300.00 - $99,500.00

Job Description

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for generating new business opportunities by identifying and qualifying potential leads. They conduct outbound prospecting through cold calls, emails, and social media outreach to engage with decision-makers. By understanding customer needs, they schedule meetings or product demos for the sales team to drive growth and ultimately Craft's user count and revenue metrics.
BDRs work closely with marketing and sales teams to refine outreach strategies and improve lead conversion rates. Strong communication, persistence, and a results-driven mindset are essential for success in this role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation & Prospecting - Identify and research potential customers through outbound calls, emails, and social media.
  • Qualifying Leads - Assess potential clients' needs and determine if they are a good fit for the company's products or services.
  • Appointment Setting - Schedule meetings or demos with qualified prospects for the sales team.
  • CRM Management - Maintain accurate records of prospect interactions and pipeline progress in a CRM system.
  • Collaboration with Sales & Marketing - Work closely with internal teams to refine outreach strategies and improve lead conversion rates

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic sales and prospecting tactics, philosophies
  • Strong communication skills, ability to effectively engage prospects through calls, emails, and social media.
  • Active listening & qualification skills, to understand customer needs and determine sales potential.
  • Time management & organization skills, the capability to handle multiple prospects, follow-ups, and tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to be reliable, proactive and highly responsive; being accountable and having an ownership mindset to meet and exceed assigned quota and metrics
  • Ability to be persistent and resilient in the face of rejection and ability to maintain a positive, results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to learn the Craft product, the messaging, outreach playbooks
  • Ability to learn and use customer relationship management (CRM) and sales tools;

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field; or experience in lieu of education

Experience

  • 2+ years in a business development role, generating and qualifying leads for business-to-business (B2B) technology products
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on quota and assigned metrics
  • Experience using platforms like Salesforce, HubSpot, or Outreach for tracking leads.

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience generating and qualifying leads with corporate enterprise customers
  • Experience generating and qualifying leads with organizations in K12 education, higher education, workforce development

Position & Application Details

Full-Time Regular Positions (classified as regular and working 40 standard weekly hours): This is a full-time, regular position (classified for 40 standard weekly hours) that is eligible for bonuses; medical, dental, vision, telehealth and mental healthcare; health savings account and flexible spending account; basic and voluntary life insurance; disability coverage; accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity supplemental coverages; legal and identity theft coverage; retirement savings plan; wellbeing program; discounted WGU tuition; and flexible paid time off for rest and relaxation with no need for accrual, flexible paid sick time with no need for accrual, 11 paid holidays, and other paid leaves, including up to 12 weeks of parental leave.
