Overview

Greets customers in a professional manner. Assists pharmacist (under direct supervision) with filling new and refill prescriptions. Processes and enters patient demographic and insurance information into the computer system accurately. Answers and forwards phone messages properly. Orders and restocks inventory and supplies. Maintains perpetual inventory in pharmacy software system. Provides general maintenance of stock area; includes cleaning and dusting shelves, and monitoring expiration dates on inventory. Accurately enters sales into cash register and asks for ID when needed. Accurately prepares daily bank deposit. Flexible schedule. Performs other duties as assigned under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist.
Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of pharmacy software to process new and refill prescriptions.
  • Prepares prescriptions to be checked by Pharmacist by retrieving products from inventory, counting or mixing correct volumes, and applying labels according to supervising Pharmacist's instructions.
  • Receiving and maintaining accurate records of Pharmacy inventory and supplies.
  • Thorough knowledge of Point-of-Sale cash registers resulting in accurate end-of-day balancing.
  • Cleans equipment, shelves, countertops and sinks to maintain a clean working environment.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.
Graduate of a pharmacy technician program preferred.
One year of Retail Pharmacy experience is preferred.


Certification and Licensure

Pharmacy Technician Licensure required
Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician Registration application required before the first day of employment.

Computer skills
Good interpersonal skill
Good interpretive/analytical skills for medication dosage calculations, etc.

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to feel, finger, handle, or grasp items for fine motor skills; reach with hands and arms, and talk/ hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
