Director of Environmental Health Programs

  1. Provide day-to-day and strategic management and oversight for the Department's programs. Current programs include sustainability, community leadership, lead outreach, and community wellness. This would include:



  • Ensure appropriate and effective staffing levels to generate necessary programmatic outputs and outcomes.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers, including performance evaluation and professional development, implementation of agency and departmental policies, and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Assist with grant reports and proposals.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Community Health and both Finance and Advancement departments to successfully manage monthly and annual departmental revenues and expenses.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Community Health to prepare documentation in accordance with the agency's fiscal year budget process.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with grant partners, advisory groups, key public/private sector individuals and organizations, among others, to support departmental programs, including developing such groups as needed.



  1. Facilitate the exploration and development of strategic partnerships and necessary resources that help to accomplish the following:



  • Strengthen relationships among internal agency units and departments and external organizations that result in more effective and efficient programming and provision of care.
  • Develop, improve and utilize Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers facilities more effectively and efficiently to support the programs and mission of Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers.
  • Identify and advance opportunities to implement community development and neighborhood revitalization activities and initiatives that support the programs and mission of Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers.



  1. Contribute to the growth and strategic management of Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers by participating in agency-wide standing committees and ad-hoc work groups as necessary.
  2. Assist with the development, coordination, and presentation of public relations through media events, written publications, and oral presentations, where appropriate.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Community Health.



QUALIFICATIONS:


  1. Advanced degree in a public health or environmental science discipline; consideration will be made for a suitable combination of previous academic and professional experience.
  2. Experience in all aspects of developing and managing multiple projects, including supervision of staff, grant development/reporting, monthly and annual budgeting, program analysis and evaluation.
  3. Experience with programs or projects focused on environmental, sustainable development, built environment, and/or community-driven work is highly preferred.
  4. Ability to relate well to people of various ages and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  5. Ability to work independently or in a group setting.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Proficiency with MS Office, experience with MS Access or similar database platforms and experience with Geographical Information Systems.
