Job Title: Microsoft Exchange Engineer Location:Washington, DC (Onsite) Clearance Requirement:Active TS/SCI Clearance Required We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Exchange Engineerto support our Department of State project in Washington, DC. Position Overview The Microsoft Exchange Engineerwill be responsible for managing, configuring, and troubleshooting email systems to ensure seamless communication within the Department of State. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft Exchange, email security, and system administration. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage email accounts, including the creation, deletion, and modification of user mailboxes.
- Configure and maintain email distribution lists and mail flow rules.
- Troubleshoot email delivery issues, including spam filtering, bounce-back messages, and connectivity problems.
- Implement and monitor email security policies, identifying and mitigating suspicious activities.
- Perform system upgrades and apply patches to Microsoft Exchange servers.
- Monitor email system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
- Provide end-user technical support and training on email-related issues.
- Administer Microsoft Exchange Server, including mail flow rules, transport rules, and Active Directory integration.
- Support Microsoft Outlook clients across various devices and operating systems.
- Manage Microsoft 2016, 2019, and Office 365 environments, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Implement and maintain email security features, such as anti-spam, anti-malware, and data loss prevention.
- Utilize PowerShell scripting for automating administrative tasks and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with IT teams to address cross-functional email and communication challenges.
- Ensure compliance with email security best practices, data protection policies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degreein Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experiencewith Microsoft Exchange administration, including on-premises and cloud-based environments.
- Microsoft Certificationsin Exchange Online Support Engineer Specialty and/or Messaging Administrator Associate (Exchange Server) required.
- Expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server administration, mail flow rules, and Active Directory integration.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Experience with email encryption protocols, security best practices, and compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scriptingfor automation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex email-related issues efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for end-user support and technical documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional IT teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting federal agencies or working in government contracting.
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, or FedRAMP.
- Knowledge of hybrid Exchange environments (on-premises to cloud migrations).
