WHAT THIS ROLE IS AND HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:

We're seeking a Greetings Editor who's a flexible, insight-driven editor, writer, and thinker with a fresh point of view and deep understanding of the human heart who can help bring our strategies and our brand to life. You must be curious, creative, and skilled at identifying compelling copy that translates to sales. We're looking for a quick study who will be a sponge soaking up internal systems, industry standards and our clients. You must be adept at interpreting strategy, translating research, consumer insights and trends into fresh, effective copy for a wide range of life's occasions and relationships. We're looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments that demand creativity, flexibility, organization, and collaboration.

In this role you will:



  • Create editorial solutions that help Hallmark stand out as the leader in greetings and social connecting
  • Work closely and collaboratively within a team environment, partnering with an Editorial Director, Art Director, Designers, and client business partners
  • Create relevant, trend-inspired, highly productive greeting cards for a range of ages, relationships, and occasions


Core responsibilities:



  • Edit, write, and curate relevant, relationship-right editorial solutions for targeted greeting card lines
  • Collaborate with editorial director, art director, and design partners to create cohesive card "packages"
  • Support creative strategy and concept development through editorial and conceptual exploration
  • Collaborate with internal Writing and Trends Studios to stay on the leading edge of voices and trends
  • Capture detailed product information to complete handoffs on time and error-free
  • Review and analyze product performance
  • Continually manage multiple programs with overlapping deadlines


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following is required to be considered for this role:



  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of professional work experience
  • At least two years of experience in a writing or editorial position
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite


A portfolio is required. Your portfolio should be compiled into one PDF or Microsoft Word document that is no larger than 10 MB. You can submit a link to a personal portfolio website in addition to your uploaded portfolio file, but you must upload a portfolio file to be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume and application will stand out if you have:



  • A portfolio that demonstrates excellent copywriting skills, strong conceptual and critical thinking skills, copy/design match and consumer target match
  • A. or B.S. in Advertising, Communication, Journalism, English, Marketing or other related writing field
  • At least three years of experience in related field such as advertising, publishing, TV, film, social media, or product development
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines (e.g. design, marketing, editorial, product development)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including grammar, spelling and punctuation)
  • Consumer-focused and emotionally intelligent
  • Resourceful, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving, often ambiguous environment
