Role Summary

You will work alongside cross-functional teams to drive Rivian quality requirements and manage our contract manufacturers quality performance ensuring seamless scaling of production. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and quality of Rivian Interior commodity, ensuring successful launches for new programs as proper management on current ones. This role is located in Plymouth, MI and reports to the Senior Manager of Supplier Development.


Responsibilities

  • Manage complete ownership of supplier quality through the entire life cycle, from initial sourcing through development, tooling and industrialization phases as well as product launch and ongoing business management for assigned purchased components
  • Support Purchasing group in the supplier selection process by conducting supplier assessment audits and participating in supplier technical review
  • Ensure supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP) meet quality and timing expectations for production part approval (PPAP) for components.
  • Collaborate with design release engineers, design quality, technical program managers and others to secure PPAP approvals
  • Understand and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing processes. Support Metrology, Inspection Methods and Equipment with the supplier-partners
  • Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to support the Quality organization to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance
  • Manage and coordinate supplier Parts Per Million (PPM), supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.
  • 60-80% travel required to supplier locations and Rivian facilities

Qualifications

  • Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience working in a product development or volume manufacturing environment.
  • Wide breadth of interiors system knowledge.
  • Ability to dive deep into surface, appearance and functional issues.
  • Technical expertise in automotive Core tools
  • Strong knowledge of Design Failure Mode Analysis (DFMEA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Metrology GD&T, Inspection Methods, and Equipment
  • Understanding of Plastic injection, ultrasonic welding, sewing, assembly, processes.
  • Experience on Interior commodity, supplier management, task force and escalation process.
  • Deep understanding of the automotive PPAP process and its application in production.
  • In depth knowledge of IATF16949:2016 or VDA and understanding of ISO14001
