Job Description

The Financial Aid Advisor in Faribault, serves as a key service point for internal and external customers to provide necessary information and assistance in guiding students through the financial aid process. This position provides high-quality, professional customer service to internal and external customers. In addition, this position will have specific responsibility for loan processing, the second chance Pell program and financial aid outreach activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide administrative and advising functions to support the student financial aid process.

2. Coordinator of Federal student loans and private loan programs.

3. Second Chance Pell Program.

4. Outreach Coordination.

5. Participate in providing support for front desk coverage in the Student Affairs Center at the Faribault Campus

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree and one year of experience in a financial aid office in higher education setting or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Inter-cultural competency and experience working with student and families from diverse backgrounds

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to listen and provide exceptional customer service in a professional manner

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and challenging situations

  • Experience creating and presenting handouts/presentations/workshops to various audiences

Preferred Qualification

  • 2 or more years of experience in a financial aid office at a two year public college

  • Knowledge of ISRS edits, processing, reporting, loan processing

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Multilingual (spoken and written)

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial *aid rules and regulations

Other Requirements

  • South Central College is unable to sponsor applicants for work visas. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's Vehicle use criteria and consent to Motor Vehicle Records check.
