Responsibilities Responsible for supervising all aspects of Respiratory Therapy, which includes ensuring the efficient and effective daily provision of respiratory services to clients within the product line. Manage department operations including direct patient communication and treatment, training and evaluating personnel, and delegating tasks to respiratory staff. Accountable for the delivery of the organization brand promise focusing on customer service and quality.
- Respiratory Therapist Management - Ensure all respiratory therapy staff are providing a consistent safe level of care to patients by following all applicable policies and procedures concerning the care and treatment of patients.
- Continuing Education - Assure quality care through ongoing continuous quality improvements. Identify quality issues and conduct continuous quality improvement training as necessary. Teach new skills to the RT staff using accepted guidelines that are necessary for the implantation of unit services.
- Infection Control - Responsible for the development and education of infection control policies and procedures for respiratory patients. Educate patients on the proper cleaning and disposal of respiratory supplies and equipment provided by the organization.
- Delivery & Setup - Responsible for overseeing the delivery and setup of respiratory equipment to patients. Assure that oxygen concentrators, portable oxygen systems, conserving devices, BiPAPs, CPAPs, Ventilators, suction equipment and nebulizer setups are completed properly, timely and as requested. Provide education to patients on delivered equipment in accordance to manufacturers guidelines as well as organization policy and procedures.
- Compliance - Responsible for ensuring that patients are contacted within 24 hours of oxygen equipment delivery for a follow-up on all new oxygen setups. Monitor patents PAP therapy usage to ensure compliance.
- Competency evaluation - Responsible for the education and competency review for all Respiratory Therapists and delivery personnel. Respiratory-related setups by Home Care Delivery Technicians are reviewed in the field and education on equipment is completed if needed. Complete competency reviews every year (at a minimum) and obtain signatures from Patient Service Technician and Respiratory Therapist.
- Maintenance - Maintain the Respiratory Therapist scheduling process to ensure daily coverage throughout our service area. Uphold the on-call rotation process schedule which includes ensuring that after-hours calls for respiratory related emergencies are handled timely and responded to in-person if necessary.
- Performance Improvement - Conduct audits of Respiratory Therapist setup documentation to ensure it is completed timely and accurately. Develop a process to conduct unannounced in-field inspections of Respiratory Therapist patient interaction at setup. Also, conduct inventory control audits of equipment and supplies being delivered by RT staff and stored in their work vehicles.
- Growth - Responsible for staying current with PAP therapy technology and visiting physician office facilities as needed with sales staff to market respiratory services.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection and retention of staff.
- Manage compliance with Human Resources policies, state and federal regulatory agencies, the Joint Commission (TJC), and state survey standards.
- Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. Consistently demonstrate the ability to organize the workday by recognizing and establishing priorities and making use of downtime.
- Provide customer troubleshooting phone support as needed. Ensure the phone is answered in a courteous and professional manner and that messages are relayed to the appropriate person. Ensure accurate and complete messages are taken.
- Respond to correspondence, email and voicemail on a consistent basis. Ensure messages/issues are resolved and correspondence is worked on daily.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Demonstrate flexibility with job responsibilities in all areas.
- Adheres to HMH's Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 2 hours a day.
Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Associate's degree
- Graduate of an AMA accredited Respiratory Care program
- Minimum of six (6) months of Respiratory Therapy experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical experience
- Proven leadership qualities

Licenses and Certifications Required:
- NJ Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
