Behavioral Support Professional

The Behavior Support Professional (BSP), under the supervision of a master's or doctoral level supervision provides a minimal of 70% of documented time working directly with the individual and the people providing supports. The time is used to observe, meet, train, provide demonstration; and accompany individuals on appointments or activities as needed. The BSP completes assessments, develops strategies, writes personalized Behavior Support Plans for individuals with basic to moderate behavior concerns, various levels of mental illness and cognitive functioning. This role trains and mentors the support team.

This BSP is responsible for efficient and appropriate development, facilitation, documentation and revision of Behavior Support Plans, according to the person's Individual Support Plan and per Merakey policy. Applicant should have a basic understanding of medical factors and its relations to behavior. The Promotion of positive practices and strategies of presenting issues, based on functional behavioral assessments, as an applied methodology in clinical practice is a primary expectation. The majority of the role, including all interactions with individuals and staff, of assigned locations is expected to be performed in-person. Some task can be done remotely/virtually.

The Behavior Support Professional

• Collaborates with the person, their family and team in the development and maintenance of a behavior support plan.
• Trains and mentors, the persons support team on how to implement plans.
• Completes documentation including but not limited to the creation and tracking of data collection, progress reporting, development and revision of the Behavior Support Plan (BSP)
• Provides timely documentation, per policy, including but not limited to data collection, progress reporting, development and revision of the BSP.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• 2+ years Two years' experience with developing and implementing Behavior Support Plans under the supervision of an individual with a master's degree in human services, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Special Education
• 4 years Experience working with adults with ID and with mental health diagnosis or autism -Preferred
