JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

University Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their team. Responsible to the Nurse Leader for providing quality nursing care in Clinical Services.

The Licensed Practical Nurse partners with members of the healthcare team to provide patient care. This position provides intake services, prescribes and administers medication, assists clinicians with treatments, completes procedures as ordered, and enters information into the electronic health record.

Primary duties include:

  • Screen patient vitals and document collected information in the electronic health record

  • Evaluate patient's overall well-being, report findings and areas of concern to medical staff

  • Assist clinicians with various examinations and procedures and set up instruments and supplies as needed

  • Provide patient education about issues such as current symptoms, preventative health practices, medication usage, medical procedures/tests, etc.

  • Change dressings and bandages; ensure patients are healing properly

  • Monitor and maintain departmental and medication supply needs; re-order supplies when needed

  • Assist nursing and medical staff with various tasks, such as administering medications or performing/ordering tests

  • Explain various treatments and procedures to patients and their families

  • May mentor clinic interns working on the clinical floor; submit written evaluations of student performance

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a Diploma in Practical Nursing and two years of related experience

  • Experience in a clinical setting is preferred

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN program. A certified Pennsylvania Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License in good standing is required

  • Must have strong organizational skills

This is an 83.3 % full-time equivalency. Months off are mid-May to mid-August. Full Penn State benefits are included.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

    The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

    $46,400.00 - $67,300.00
