JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Marilyn and Ned Price in Conservation Intern will gain hands-on experience in preservation and conservation principles and procedures. They will learn specific methods such as proper storage and handling, bookbinding structures, creating appropriate collection environments, exhibition methods, collection assessment, and conservation principles. Additionally, the intern will assist with minor conservation procedures. As part of their work, the intern will contribute to the conservation of rare book and manuscript collections by creating custom storage housings and performing minor conservation treatments, including surface cleaning, encapsulation, humidification, and document flattening. The intern will collaborate closely with the Senior Book Conservator in the Preservation, Conservation & Digitization Department, as well as with the Special Collections Library's Rare Books and Manuscripts staff. The Preservation, Conservation & Digitization Department will provide comprehensive training, a dedicated workspace, and all necessary materials. Transportation to and from the Science Park Library Annex can also be arranged if needed. Qualifications: * Current undergraduate student at Penn State University.
