What you'll do

In this critical role on AlixPartners' Tax team, you will play a critical role in supporting the execution of the Company's global tax strategy, providing expertise on international tax matters, and aligning with corporate goals. This role requires a deep understanding of international tax laws, regulations, and best practices to optimize tax efficiency and ensure compliance.

The Tax Operations Manager - International Tax is a full-time role located in Southfield, MI and reports to the Tax Operations Director. Paid relocation is not available for this position.



  • Support the execution of the Company's global tax strategy by providing expertise on international tax matters and aligning with corporate goals.
  • Advise on cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, intercompany agreements, and global operations to optimize tax efficiency.
  • Assist the Tax Operations Director in the development/review and of transfer pricing policies. Team with third-party advisors to ensure documentation compliance, and to address challenges in line with global regulatory requirements.
  • Assess and address international tax risks, ensuring compliance with the tax control framework and adapting to regulatory changes.
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries by various tax authorities, coordinating with external advisors when necessary.
  • Support the global tax provision process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Provide tax expertise during M&A activities, including due diligence, structuring, and post-merger integration.
  • Stay updated on global tax law changes and develop strategies to maintain compliance (e.g., Pillar 2).
  • Work with regional operations leaders, business teams, and external advisors to provide tax insights on strategic decisions.
  • Work with third-party advisors to proactively identify international tax planning opportunities to support business growth, international expansion, and operational restructuring while ensuring compliance.
  • Coordinate and manage US foreign income tax compliance and support in conjunction with third-party advisors.
  • Manage and oversee foreign tax filing processes in collaboration with external advisors.

What you'll need



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, JD or MST preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in international tax, preferably within a multinational corporation or a public accounting firm.
  • Distinct knowledge of international tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and intercompany agreements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams as well as a variety of people across seniority levels, cultures, and geographic locations.
  • Ability to stay updated on global tax law changes and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Independent worker with a sense of urgency in a complex and changing working environment. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented, critical thinker who possesses a real passion for helping others and can be adaptive in dynamic and changing situations.
  • Ability to remain focused and generate accurate work product in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Handles confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Experience with SAP S4 Hana, OneSource Income Tax, and OneSource Tax Provision preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
