Experienced Network Engineer

Active Secret

CCNP Cert required

5 years of recent experience in network engineering required within the federal government environment

Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)

This role requires a strong understanding of networking principles, protocols, and security best practices, coupled with proven experience in managing and supporting large-scale networks

Required Experience with Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers)

Required Knowledge of network security principles and practices

Required Experience with network monitoring and management tools

Experience with federal security regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA)

Experience in the design, configuration and implementation of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN solutions

Experience developing and maintaining network diagrams, documentation, and configuration standards

BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent exp.

DUTIES:

You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex network infrastructure within a federal government environment.

Design, configure, and implement LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN solutions based on agency requirements and industry best practices.

Develop and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and configuration standards.

Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions.

Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve network issues.

Perform root cause analysis of network outages and implement corrective actions.

Troubleshoot complex network problems using diagnostic tools and techniques.

Provide support for network-related incidents.

Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists.

Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans.

Ensure compliance with federal security regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA).

Implement and manage VPN solutions. Adhere to federal government policies, regulations, and security requirements.

Participate in audits and compliance reviews.

Document and maintain records according to federal standards.

Work with government provided ticketing systems, and change management processes.

Collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless network operations.

Provide clear and concise communication to technical and non-technical audiences.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with agency personnel.
