Position: BrickStor Product Support Engineer Unix/Linux with Racktop Systems Position Summary: As a Product Support Engineer for the BrickStor Product line, the ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our customers by providing technical support, troubleshooting, and solutions across various systems and technologies. This role requires hands-on experience with Attached Storage, Linux/Unix systems, networking, storage, virtualization, and Active Directory/Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and excellent customer interaction skills. The candidate will work closely with customers to resolve issues, test and install company products, and contribute to the ongoing development of our support documentation. Clearance Eligibility: Active DoD - Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Poly Salary: $90,000 to $150,000 annually DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Technical Troubleshooting: Provide in-depth technical troubleshooting for issues related to Linux/Unix operating systems, networking, data storage, virtualization, and Active Directory/LDAP configurations.
- Installation and Configuration: Install and configure products at remote sites across the continental U.S., ensuring smooth deployment and setup.
- Documentation: Create, update, and maintain detailed technical documentation and knowledge base articles, ensuring accuracy and ease of understanding for internal and customer use.
- Product Testing: Assist in the testing and validation of new products, updates, and patches to ensure high-quality standards before release.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering and sales, to communicate issues, gather customer feedback, and drive continuous product improvement.
- Scripting: Use scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate common tasks and streamline troubleshooting efforts.
- Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service through clear, proactive communication and effective problem-solving skills.
- Supporting customers along with other engineers by participating in an on-call rotation.
Required Skills (3 years minimum):
- Proven experience in Linux/Unix system administration (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu, Solaris, etc.)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VPNs, etc.)
- Experience with storage solutions (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, etc.) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.)
- Familiarity with Active Directory/LDAP integration and management
- Knowledge of security best practices in system administration and network configurations
- Strong troubleshooting skills in a customer-facing environment
- Strong organization, written and oral communication
- Strong attention to detail and punctuality
Desired Skills:
- Experience in scripting and automation (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Experience with Solaris and variants
- Experience with ZFS
- Experience in Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Experience in training technical users
- Ability to read, write, and interpret network and hardware diagrams
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- When remote, the primary work environment is a home office. This office should be private and free of distractions, allowing interaction with customers and coworkers via voice and video.
- Office space is available at the company HQ in Fulton, MD. Occasional visits to HQ are required.
- Travel will be required up to 25% per month within the continental U.S. for system support and installation. Onsite visits to classified customer sites within the Washington, DC, Metro area will also be required.
- Lifting up to 100 lbs. and interacting with data center racks and related equipment is required for system installations. Heavier equipment will be installed with the assistance of team members or by operating mechanical lifts.
