RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Payment Application Supervisor to join our team. As a Payment Application Supervisor, you will supervise the Cash Applications team, providing support in the areas of operations, staff supervision, performance management and process improvements. While supervising 20+ associates at our St Louis Park, MN, and Buffalo, NY offices, you will ensure the team is delivering the highest level of service. You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely posting of payments, discounts and adjustments; and providing direction and training to the cash applications team. This is a full-time remote position working 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, corporate working hours. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (50%) Cash Applications Oversight & Support
- Collaborates with the Operations Manager, Revenue Cycle Management on how to prioritize the receipt and correspondence posting for the team
- Manages the reconciling log which tracks unposted receipts
- Escalates atypical remittances, CMS and Managed Care Payer notifications for review
- Identifies and coordinates efforts to obtain missing remittances
- Obtains the necessary documentation required to post receipts, denials and correspondence
- Ensures that receipts, discounts and adjustments are accurately posted to patient accounts in a timely manner to meet department goals on a daily and monthly basis
- Enters coordination of benefits data accurately for secondary claim processing
- Verifies batch totals, edits, reconciles and updates payment batches
- Interprets denials and correspondence for proper denial code posting in the billing system
- Handles difficult calls associated with posting questions and credit balance accounts when necessary
- Ensures that contractual networks are correctly identified for accurate posting of discounts
- Maintains quality checks and balances to ensure that processes are in place and being followed to protect the integrity of monies being posted to accounts
(45%) Staff Supervision
- Provides oversight, training, feedback and expertise as needed to the cash applications team
- Collaborates with team members to increase their knowledge of the cash application process to effectively post denials, adjustments and payments as well as balance the receipts to bank account
- Creates an environment that promotes team work and increases engagement
- Leads staff meetings and associate one-on-one as needed
- Supports associates, defines job responsibilities and sets priorities for the Cash Application Specialists; allocating specific job responsibilities/specialty tasks
- Participates in staff planning and hiring process along with management
- Develops and monitors the teams' performance through QA process
- Fosters a team environment, ensuring appropriate communication between departments Initiates and participates in staff performance evaluations, development of associates including performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions
- Establishes associate schedules to provide for planned time off, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and adequate department coverage
- Supports end of month needs by monitoring work assignments and collaborating with the cash applications and credit balance teams at end of month to ensure receipt batches balance and tie to bank deposits and to identify receipt balancing challenges
(5%) Performs other duties as assigned Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years medical Payment Applications (payment posting) experience, including knowledge of various payers and a understanding of contractual discounts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Data entry experience
Preferred:
- Associate's degree
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a medical office environment
- Graduate of medical billing program
