Position Summary

The Manager of Payroll is responsible for the oversight of payroll staff and bi-weekly payroll processing in Workday. This position will be responsible for the development and management of payroll team members through appropriate staffing and performance management. The Payroll Manager will be responsible in identifying and implementing automation of manual processes and process optimization. The Manager ensures accurate and timely payment of all payroll obligations for the consolidated MultiCare Health System and its affiliates. The Payroll Manager develops and enforces payroll policies, identifies risk, and implements internal controls as appropriate. This role will drive process improvement by continually challenging current processes and seeking best practices. The Payroll Manager participates on cross-functional teams and serves as project leader on assigned projects.

Essential Functions

  • Coach, mentor, and provide leadership to payroll team members
  • Drive appropriate process improvement and automation
  • Oversight of payroll processes to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance leaders on projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum five (5) years recent accounting and/or payroll experience working with automated time and attendance systems required
  • Minimum three (3) years recent management or direct supervisory experience required
  • Experience with processing payroll in Workday
  • Experience with UKG timekeeping preferred
  • Experience with ServiceNow preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $106,517.00 - $153,275.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
