Supervisor, Patient Access

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Supervisor, Patient Access
  • Hourly Pay Range: $24.86 - $37.29. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
  • Location: Kildeer, IL
  • Full time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am -3:30pm
  • Required Travel: Floating locations as needed

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Patient Access Services Manager, supervises, trains, coaches and assists PAS staff. Aids in managing and developing strong relationships with patients, guarantors, physicians and interdependent departments to maximize recoveries, ensure account maintenance is completed in a timely manner, and to promote adherence to Endeavor Health guidelines.

What you will do:

  • Monitors daily activities of the PAS staff. Assists in ensuring all staff have the proper training and competence to meet job and productivity standards. Assists in training, coaching, and assembling qualitative and quantitative reports to measure staff performance. Supports Manager in operational and technical training material and department policy and procedure updates as necessary. Maintains the standards of productivity and quality for all staff and provides reports to upper management.
  • Serves as the escalation point for research and resolution of customer inquiries and account discrepancies while maintaining excellent customer service. Ensures timely and accurate resolution to customer inquiries as well as account resolution. Maintains effective and open communication with multi-functioning teams to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Assists Manager in planning work and assigning work to staff to ensure adequate service and coverage based on staff schedules. Works with Manager to prepare staff performance management evaluations.
  • Serves as the first point of support for technical issues. Assists in implementing best practices in customer service. Provides input to the Manager to help establish controls and review mechanisms that ensure systems and procedures are being followed correctly. Supports manager in addressing performance management issues of PAS staff.
  • Continuously monitor key department metrics throughout the day using Aeos dashboards. Manually triage at-risk accounts through worklist transfers and escalate account resolution to Manager. Assist staff and respond to workflow questions, and escalate to Manager. Serve as point of contact for staff questions to other areas.
  • Facilitate daily huddles with staff to review workflow issues and communicate unit progress towards days out. Utilize Aeos dashboards and scorecards to update Management for metric progress and risk populations. Provide daily update to Manager for metric progress, training needs and barriers to success. Complete quality reviews and provide results to Manager.
  • Identify, log, escalate department training issues.
  • Troubleshoot account flow/metric barriers through Aeos reporting, dashboards, portfolios. Complete and submit Aeos change request forms.
  • Coordinate with Manager staff contingency resources.
  • Adheres to all Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.

What you will need:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Healthcare or Business preferred
  • Certification: N/A
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in a healthcare related Revenue Cycle, Access Services, account maintenance, environment with progressive working knowledge of, insurance and billing processes. Access Services Lead/Supervisor experience preferred. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting required for external hires. Proficient in the use of a personal computer to create and manage documents, reports, and presentations in Microsoft Office Suite. Epic ADT, Cadence, billing experience preferred.
  • Unique or Preferred Skills:
    • The interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and provide assistance and expertise to patients, families, payers and other external or internal contacts
    • Organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects and work independently.
    • The leadership skills necessary to supervise staff.
    • Ability to evaluate, formulate, develop and implement area specific training and process improvement activities and programs.
    • The analytical skills necessary to identify opportunities for improvement, utilizing reports, observations or feedback from others and to develop and implement action plans.
    • The ability to think outside of current practices, roles and conditions to creatively generate solutions or expectations.

Physical Requirements:

Requires very little physical effort. May require occasional lifting or moving lightweight material or rarely lifting or moving average weight material. The flow of work and character of duties involves normal mental and visual attention.
