The Clinical Logistics Center serves as a centralized communications (Hub) for the hospital by bringing together resources and utilizing them to improve experience, efficiency and timeliness of care. The CLC also collects and analyzes data for both real time intervention and trending and analysis. A professional, pleasant attitude is essential, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize is a must. Team members regularly exercise critical thinking and good judgement in making decisions.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Clinical Logistics Associate at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • CLC Associates serve as operators for the hospital, answering the switchboard, code line, overhead pages, multiple hotlines including requests for clergy, and other forms of communication.
  • The CLC Associates are dedicated to improving patient flow throughout the hospital. Team members work closely with the ED clinical team, Admitting, Environmental Services, and Patient Transport as a point person to ensure that patients are moving through the care experience in the most efficient manner possible. This involves knowing and understanding all available resources in the hospital at a given time. Team members must use critical thinking to make decisions about prioritization.
  • The Clinical Logistics Center collects real-time and historical data for intervention and analysis. The CLC Associates monitor the progress of all ED patients and work with multiple departments for real-time interventions to ensure appropriate timeliness of care. The CLC distributes information on delays and interventions in real time to key stakeholders. Additionally, the CLC collects data on a number of important initiatives including readmissions through the Emergency Care Center. This data is used for trending and analysis.
  • The CLC provides a key aspect of the patient experience. CLC Associates round on patients in the ER with specific attention to those who are being admitted. Through targeted rounding, the CLC provides comfort items, builds trust, assists with communication, and expedites throughput. CLC Associates must interact professionally with clinical and non-clinical staff, and provide an exceptional patient experience.
  • CLC Associates are involved in multiple 24/7 functions, including the processing of all expirations within the hospital. This may involve coordination with multiple departments including care management, nursing administration, and security.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH's Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in healthcare or customer services.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Associates Degree or higher.
  • 2-3 years of experience in healthcare or customer services.
