Description

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team dedicated to spectrum interference analysis and field testing. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding, mitigating, and managing spectrum interference in various communication systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of experts and utilize state-of-the-art facilities.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Conduct detailed spectrum interference analysis using advanced analytical and computational methods.
  • Design, plan, and execute field tests to measure and evaluate spectrum interference in real-world environments.
  • Develop and validate models to predict and mitigate interference in communication systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate findings into practical applications and solutions.
  • Prepare and present research findings in technical reports, peer-reviewed journals, and at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for future research funding.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field. Must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years.
  • Strong background in spectrum management, wireless communications, signal processing, and interference analysis.
  • Proficiency in using software tools and platforms for signal analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python, RF simulation tools)
  • Experience in designing and conducting field experiments, including the use of spectrum analyzers and other relevant equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.


Preferred Experience:



  • Experience with software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and related programming.
  • Knowledge of regulatory aspects of spectrum management and interference mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques applied to signal processing and interference analysis.


Job Information:



  • The target salary for this position is $101,196.00 Annually. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
