As the Manager, IT Infrastructure, you will have overall responsibility for company's IBM i-series platform including managing the administration, capacity planning, support, security, upgrade and operations for the various partitions and related components. Must be a collaborative leader and champion in the organization for the application performance optimization to ensure the scalability and high availability of the IBM i-series platform.

What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with various IT teams to effectively manage all aspects of the i-series environment.
  • Work with the Director Infrastructure & Operations, other IT Leads in the company, project managers, business partners and vendors to communicate and prioritize the company's i-series needs and requirements.
  • Formulate and communicate the technical vision and strategy for the company's i-Series architecture and roadmap.
  • Manage the overall i-series architecture by optimizing application and system interactions and working with the various IT teams to meet system performance goals.
  • Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the i-series environment in the areas of security, capacity, object management, monitoring and backup.
  • Coordinate the i-series installation, upgrades and maintenance of the system.
  • Oversee system migrations, PTFs, firmware upgrades and software installations.
  • Review systems and processes to ensure that they are at the appropriate revision levels.
  • Work with our vendors and other IT teams to provide support and resolve system problems. Manage third party software, ensure they are updated according to the support lifecycle.
  • Hold accountable the iSeries Managed Services Provider to prioritize issues and drive performance.
  • Lead regularly scheduled status meetings and communicate and track ongoing issues.
  • Identify the need for/obtain resources and coordinate all efforts to meet SLAs.
  • Manage the i-series operating processes and procedures.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for common tasks.
  • Coordinate back-ups and restore processes and lead disaster recovery documentation and testing.
  • Address i-series platform system issues escalated by the users, other IT groups and/or the Support Center.
  • Provide direction to staff to increase their ability to positively impact the business and achieve desired results.
  • Ensure staff has exposure to business process and market conditions through field visits and other opportunities.
  • Initiate career development and training plans to ensure succession of IT leaders.
  • Establish goals and assess performance in a timely manner.
  • Foster an atmosphere and environment of collaboration, teamwork and open communication.


Requirements:
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Mathematics (or equivalent experience)
  • 5 to 7+ years' experience working within the i-series environment
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and collaboration skills with peers, management and direct reports
  • Strong leadership skills at different levels within an organization
  • Proven knowledge in defining system architecture
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior members of the team
  • Strong sense of accountability and responsibility for assigned work
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and excellent problem-solving skills
  • On-call and after-hours support and some travel required
