YOU

As the Production Manager, you will guide, direct, and coach production employees to safely manufacture high-quality products at a sufficiently high volume to meet production standards with minimal waste.Provide work direction and leadership to production employees within the guidelines of standard work rules, union contract provisions, and employment policies.Oversee day-to-day operations of the production group including making personnel changes and addressing performance, behavior, and policy compliance.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Plan and schedule production runs to meet customer demands. Achieve production goals at the required level of quality. Communicate with staff to ensure a smooth flow of information and products to achieve production goals. Communicate with Plant Superintendent where necessary to modify and improve efficiency. Monitor production processes and proactively identify and address barriers. Troubleshoot and problem-solve through root cause analysis. Communicate with other departments and help drive better working relations. (30%)

Lead, motivate, and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their careers and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization. (30%)

Help in developing continuous improvement culture. Manage and train employees on the Lean program. Measure and report result to Leadership on a regular basis. (20%)

Consistently exemplify the highest safety standards and monitor others to the same standards.Coordinate with other departments to meet objectives. Ensure that all Simpson policies and procedures are adhered to by all teammates. Review and edit employee timecards. Approve and deny employee time off requests. Work with the Human Resources department for staffing needs and conduct first face-to-face interviews. Develop or modify training procedures and keep track of all training. (10%)

Monitor, manage, and prioritize manufacturing and receiving activities to ensure goals are attained and standards met.Support Simpson's Lead program.Approve work orders, monitor backorders, and manage on-site raw materials.Annual participation in inventories. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or related experience and/or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A college degree or technical school certificate in business is preferred.
  • 5 years of related manufacturing experience and/or training is preferred.
  • 2 years of managing others are required.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
  • The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and not interrupt at inappropriate times.
  • The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • The ability to monitor/assess your own performance and others to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to effectively use Word, Excel, and Outlook to carry out work.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to conduct tests and inspections of processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Knowledge of elimination of waste, continuous improvement, S5, Kaizen, Quality Built In, JIT, Kanban, and levelized production.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting, and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

Travel

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 10% of the time.

Work Status & Location

This is a full-time, exempt position is in Gallatin, TN.

Relocation

Relocation is not available for this position.

Pay

$82,500 - $132,000 / year
