Mainline seeks an experienced Storage and Backup Systems Engineer (SE) to join the Managed Services organization, which is responsible for managing and supporting various client storage and backup environments. This role is client-facing and provides insight and guidance to our clients beginning with the sales cycle all the way through to client kickoff and management of our client's environment. The SE must have strong technical skills complemented by customer relationship skills.

Job Summary

Mainline seeks an experienced Storage and Backup Systems Engineer (SE) to join the Managed Services organization, which is responsible for managing and supporting various client storage and backup environments. This role is client facing and provides insight and guidance to our clients beginning with the sales cycle all the way through to client kickoff and management of our client's environment. The SE must have strong technical skills complimented by customer relationship skills.

The Storage and Backup Systems Engineer (SE) role will require a well-rounded individual with a very solid technical background as well as a proven history of strong professional communication skills both oral and written. This position is remote and can be located nationally within the United States.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Serve as a Storage and Backup System Engineer for management and support of various client environments.
  • Perform system-engineering delivery functions with respect to the development of system concepts, and requirements, at the system, software, and hardware levels.
  • Routinely monitors all systems within the storage and backup domain
  • Supports resolution of production support incidents
  • Troubleshoots issues across development, test, and production systems
  • Participates in systems management, and security compliance activities
  • Oversees monitoring and configuration management
  • Develop and maintains procedures and storage system documentation
  • Automate repeatable tasks using scripting & other means of automation
  • Create Knowledge Base articles of operational tasks to streamline support and empower first and second-level support to resolve issues
  • Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and share expertise on storage and backup best practices
  • Develop monthly system performance reports for assigned clients as needed showing system health, trends and opportunities for efficiencies


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong understanding of multiple technologies such as IBM, NetApp, Pure, Infinidat, Dell, Veeam, CommVault, NetBackup, Rubrik or Brocade
  • Advanced knowledge of operating systems such as AIX, Linux, Windows.
  • Professional certifications are an ongoing requirement
  • Be proactive in nature and strive for customer satisfaction
  • 7+ years of production support experience in Storage & Backup Administration.
  • Strong experience in performing Firmware upgrades
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult technical issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills


Education and/or Experience



  • BA or BS or equivalent required.
  • Candidates should possess a minimum of 7 years' experience managing and implementing Enterprise storage.



Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

This is a fully remote position. Candidates located within the united states will be considered.



  • Physical environmental factors of this position include those found in typical business office environment or home office environment.
  • Requires use of general office equipment and personal computer equipment.
  • Ability to travel. Various means of travel may be required, including auto and air travel. This position requires travel: Rarely
  • May be required to work irregular schedules including but not limited to as applicable: Nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and/or overtime.
