Summary of Role:

The Hershey Company is seeking a talented professional with knowledge of corporate philanthropy, employee engagement, and community impact to join our Corporate Philanthropy Team. This team leads The Hershey Company's corporate giving programs which include a community product donation program, strategic giving via corporate grants and contributions, and employee impact programs including employee volunteerism, matching gifts, and workplace giving campaigns.

The Coordinator, Philanthropy will support a range of team efforts, advancing Hershey's external reputation across the communities where we operate and supporting key internal goals focused on deepening employee engagement.

Role Responsibilities:

Support community product donation program



  • Weekly review and processing of product donations in coordination with Philanthropy team
  • Coordinates with other internal product donation leads (brand teams, manufacturing teams) to fulfill approved requests and other special requests as needed


Support strategic philanthropy program



  • Responds to requests from community partners seeking support
  • Scans and uploads acknowledgement letters and other grantee documentation to giving administration platform
  • Supports other ad hoc corporate giving administration needs


Support employee engagement programs



  • Serve as point of contact for employee inquiries related to matching gifts, workplace giving campaigns, and volunteer hours tracking
  • Troubleshoots and resolves employee inquiries in a timely fashion, engaging giving administration vendor as needed.
  • Supports overall planning, logistics, and coordination of employee events focused on volunteerism and community outreach annually, including Hershey's global month of service and other key employee engagement events.
  • Supports planning and implementation of Hershey's annual workplace giving campaign, ensuring giving platform and campaign materials are ready in advance of the program
  • Manage logistics for company in-kind donation drives, working with facilities teams and employee and nonprofit organizations sponsoring monthly drives
  • Manage inventory and distribution of company volunteer t-shirts and related materials
  • Support administration of other employee impact programs as needed, including scholarship program for children of employees, military care package program for employee friends and family, employee hardship fund, and related programs benefiting employees.
  • Helps ensure that employees represent the company at Hershey-sponsored community events, filling tables, coordinating attendance, etc.
  • Supports employee teams focused on fundraising for key nonprofit partners to ensure coordination and alignment with strategy
  • Builds enthusiasm and participation among employees to support communities and the causes they care most about.


Communicating Impact



  • Gathers and aggregates progress reports on impact from employee teams


  • Drafts stories communicating Hershey's impact for internal and external audiences
  • Tracks impact of company volunteerism, employee fundraising efforts, and related program efforts
  • Supports completion of corporate responsibility reports and surveys



Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:



  • Familiar with web-based platforms such as giving administrators, CRM systems, and databases
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel and other Office 365 tools and capabilities
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking & problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong social skills and the ability to effectively connect with and respond to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt, flex, and support projects with multiple milestones and deliverables
  • Strong project management skills to carry longer-term events and campaigns through to completion
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while delivering high-quality results



Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Education -

    • College degree (B.A. or B.S.) in relevant field or equivalent experience


  • Experience -

    • At least 3-5 years of related work experience in philanthropy, nonprofit, or corporate philanthropy/CSR sectors
