Quality Specialist

We're looking to hire a talented Quality Specialist based in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

Reporting to the Sr. Quality Manager, the Quality Specialist is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction with quality products and certified in compliance with the purchase order and specification requirement.

Primary Duties

  • Verifies the test results for conformance to Military, ASME Code, and Customer specification requirements and releases the product.
  • If the tested product does not conform to specifications, initiates letters to appropriate Company personnel as to the nature of failure, possible cause, and decision of disposition. Consults with Product Manager to resolve the disposition of material that fails to meet test requirements.
  • Acts as liaison for Government QAR Inspector and the Company. Preparation for Government Source Inspected material includes: release of tested product, witness the tests by QAR, verifying dimensional and markings of samples, verification of labels, and packaging requirements.
  • Responsible for the approval of all Government labels in accordance with MIL-STD-129 and special identification labels invoked by a customer's request.
  • Responsible for the conformance of the test data and accuracy on the following types of certifications: ASME Code, Military, International, and Typicals
  • Responsible for the approval of all Government labels in accordance with MIL-STD-129 and special identification labels invoked by a customer's request
  • Responsible for the yearly renewal of test data of certain product types submitted for the approval of each State Highway Department
  • Coordinate requests from outside auditors regarding customer product surveillance and witnessing of weld tests.
  • Coordinate customer test requirements of welding products at Hanover
  • Other projects as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Adhere to all safe work practices and/or safety policies

Qualifications

  • A high school education with three to five years of related experience. Thorough knowledge of welding products and testing requirements is required.
  • A minimum of one year experience with Military/Nuclear specifications would be beneficial
  • Requires excellent skills in all types of welding, knowledge of metals, ability to determine technique and equipment to be used.
  • Needs to be familiar with our various specifications governing weld metal testing.
  • Good knowledge of mathematics and /or mechanical aptitude.
  • Computer use required.

Working Conditions

  • Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
  • Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
