The Insurance Sales Agent is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with current and prospective members, advising clients on insurance policy benefits, cross-selling products to meet their needs, and achieving production goals, while actively engaging in community networking, referring clients to credit union services, and enhancing agency efficiency to deliver a seamless and comprehensive member experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Consistently achieve and maintain production and underwriting quality standards, as established by management.
  • Advise, service, and cross-sell insurance policies that protect individuals and businesses from financial loss resulting from automobile accidents, fire, theft, storms, and other events.
  • Seek out new clients and develop clientele by following sales leads generated from a variety of referral sources, networking, marketing, cold-calling, and lead databases.
  • Adhere to the rules and regulations as outlined by the various insurance companies that are represented, as well as within the guidelines of the office of the Washington State Insurance Commissioner.
  • Provide customized insurance programs that address a wide range of potential risks and provide coverage for the member's needs. Provide coverage reviews and on-going support to insurance clients as needed.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills by proactively identifying challenges and implementing effective solutions. Maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure, ensuring high-quality service delivery even in dynamic situations
  • Act as a frontline underwriter, interviewing prospective clients to gather detailed information about their financial resources, insurance needs, and the physical condition of the person or property to be insured.
  • Review and discuss any existing coverage with clients to ensure comprehensive risk assessment and suitability of new policies.
  • Obtain price quotes and process applications. Match insurance policies for clients with the companies that offer the best rates and coverage.
  • Consistently enter accurate data for every client interaction and policy application.
  • Calculate premiums and establish payment method.
  • Issue binders as requested by mortgagees and loss payees on behalf of their member customers.
  • Call on policyholders to deliver and explain policies, analyze insurance programs and suggest additions or changes.
  • Process and monitor insurance claims in a timely manner. Ensure they are settled equitably for both the client and the insurer.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, handling policy renewals and processing payments.
  • Work closely with the Service Agent Team to drive client retention and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Develop working relationships with Credit Union staff and provide feedback regarding referrals and appointments in a timely manner. Conduct branch-level product and referral training sessions.
  • Actively assist business development and sales generation through target marketing, seminars, branch displays, newsletters and member referrals.
  • Actively cross-sell Credit Union products and services to meet member needs, increase product usage, and provide an exceptional member experience.
  • Serve as a dedicated point of contact for new members as part of the Member Onboarding strategy. Facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for new members by providing comprehensive guidance and support. Conduct regular follow-up communications to ensure new members are settling in well and to address any ongoing concerns or questions. Gather feedback from new members about their onboarding experience to continuously improve the program and enhance member satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards change and the ability to adapt quickly to new processes, technologies, and work environments. Show flexibility in adjusting to shifting priorities and evolving business needs
