Job Summary

The Curriculum Evaluator is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating technical training courses, instructional materials, and assessment tools. This role involves analyzing educational or instructional challenges to create effective learning solutions.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Develops, reviews, validates, and revises technical training courses and instructional strategies.
  • Studies and analyses result in complete and full-length training products of multiple functional specialty area lines at various levels of complexity to include those covering advanced technical systems or subject matter comparable to upper-level undergraduate work.
  • Develops courses that are not in standardized or pre-structured form and typically have some source materials problems, e.g., excessive amounts of materials or materials that are difficult to locate or adapt and that affect a considerable number and variety of users (e.g., instructors at a large AF military technical school that provides a wide variety of courses at various levels of complexity).
  • Conducts needs analyses and task/learning analyses. Organizes course content and develops instruction design plans that frequently require substantial adaptations or extensions of available guides and established procedures or, in some instances, the development of new approaches, methods, or techniques for specific applications. Encompasses new or anticipated design changes in equipment or other developments in the subject field in plans; develops or revises the content, organization, style, format, emphasis, and treatment of the instructional materials to meet educational standards. Develops effective instructional material methodologies which include order of presentation, level of interaction, feedback, and remediation.
  • Develops final products that conform to established educational theories and practices. Develops meaningful recommendations which relate to admissions policy, coverage of courses, instructional methods, or other aspects of technical training.
  • Conducts classroom and training area visits to assess instructional design soundness, and documents results.
  • Reviews and evaluates instructional media and materials to ensure correlation with plans of instruction or lesson plans. Assesses adequacy of audiovisual products, determines need for revisions, and develops recommendations for improvement.
  • Plans, develops, and revises the content, organization, style, format, emphasis, and treatment of the instructional materials and media to meet educational standards. Develops effective instructional material or media methodologies, to include order of presentation, level of interaction, feedback, and remediation.
  • Conducts classroom and training area visits to assess instructional design soundness, and documents results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Learning Design or a related education field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience in online curriculum development and instructional design experience with a team (e.g., subject-matter-experts, multimedia developers, and developers).
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - must work effectively both individually and as a virtual team member.
  • Strong project and time management skills, e.g., meeting deadlines and handling diverse tasks simultaneously using prioritization.
  • Ability to learn emerging technologies preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with ICIS, TTMS and LMS systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google products.
Preferred Qualifications and Education
  • Desired familiarity with AETC course management and instructional design
  • Prior experience as an Instructor Supervisor or training manager preferred.
  • Background on Special Warfare and AETC training methodology.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Garrison work environment including but not limited to:
  • Occasional field environments, Tactical observations of Final Exercise Phase (FEP) and other key training phases.
  • Occasional extended working hours will be required.
