Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a skilled and dynamic Finance Analytics Principal to join our corporate finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, Excel, and Power BI, and be comfortable translating complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership. This individual will play a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing strategic recommendations based on data analysis. This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Reston, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Data Analysis: Coordinate analysis of financial data, identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Drive development and monitoring of action plans to improve the business from data insights.
  • Reporting and Dashboards: Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to provide senior leadership with real-time insights into financial performance.
  • Excel Expertise: Utilize advanced Excel skills for financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and in-depth data analysis.
  • Presentation to Leadership: Present complex data findings clearly and concisely to higher leadership teams, offering actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather data, understand business needs, and provide analytical support.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and suggest improvements to existing financial reporting processes, leveraging technology and best practices to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure data accuracy and consistency across financial reporting systems.
  • Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: Be comfortable asking probing questions, challenging assumptions, and offering data-driven solutions to complex problems.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in finance or data analytics, with a focus on financial analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, advanced formulas).
  • Strong experience in Power BI (reporting, dashboard creation, data modeling).
  • Proven ability to present data and insights to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable asking questions, seeking clarification, and ensuring data aligns with business needs.
  • US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field (Finance, Data Science, etc.).
  • Experience with Deltek CostPoint and/or Cognos systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL, ETL tools and data visualization tools.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
