Job Location: Whitestown, IN Summary: Brief Summary of Job: As a Maintenance Planner, your primary responsibility is to coordinate and schedule maintenance activities to ensure efficient and effective use of resources, minimize downtime, and maximize equipment reliability. You will work closely with maintenance teams, technicians, and production personnel to plan and schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment upgrades. Your role involves creating maintenance plans, managing work orders, optimizing maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. In addition, the Maintenance Planner:
- Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules based on equipment requirements, production needs, and preventive maintenance guidelines. Collaborate with maintenance teams and production supervisors to ensure maintenance activities align with production downtime and operational needs.
- Work Order Management: Generate and manage work orders for maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment upgrades. Review work order requests, prioritize tasks, and assign them to appropriate maintenance technicians. Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of work performed, including labor, materials, and time tracking.
- Preventive Maintenance: Create and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery. Coordinate with maintenance technicians to conduct regular inspections, lubrications, calibrations, and other preventive maintenance activities. Update maintenance plans based on equipment performance and maintenance history.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate resources, including labor, materials, tools, and equipment, to ensure availability for scheduled maintenance tasks. Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of necessary parts and supplies. Optimize resource allocation to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Maintenance Schedule Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize maintenance schedules to improve efficiency and equipment uptime. Identify opportunities for streamlining maintenance activities, reducing changeover times, and improving overall maintenance effectiveness. Adjust schedules as needed based on equipment availability, production demands, and resource constraints.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all maintenance activities. Collaborate with safety and regulatory teams to identify and address safety concerns and hazards. Ensure maintenance procedures and practices align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Equipment Performance Monitoring: Monitor equipment performance and reliability metrics to identify trends and patterns. Collaborate with maintenance technicians and engineering teams to analyze data, identify potential issues, and propose corrective actions or equipment upgrades. Use predictive maintenance techniques to proactively address equipment failures or breakdowns.
- Maintenance Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, including equipment history, maintenance logs, and work order documentation. Generate reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track maintenance performance, downtime, and equipment reliability. Provide regular reports to management on maintenance activities, accomplishments, and challenges.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the maintenance planning function. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to implement best practices, standardize procedures, and enhance overall maintenance effectiveness. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide guidance and support to maintenance technicians regarding maintenance plans, schedules, and work order priorities. Facilitate training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities to improve maintenance skills and promote cross-training within the maintenance team.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or coordination, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Solid understanding of maintenance principles, preventive maintenance strategies, and equipment reliability.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using computer software and tools, such as spreadsheets and scheduling applications.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements in maintenance operations.
