Summary of Role:

The Hershey Company seeks a data analytics professional to support our Sustainability team. This role will focus on managing diverse data sources, performing complex analyses, and creating compelling visualizations to drive insights. The analyst will work within the Global Sustainability team to transform environmental and social impact data from multiple sources into actionable intelligence through advanced analytics and effective reporting solutions.

The position is based at Hershey's corporate headquarters and requires collaboration with various departments and data providers. The role involves working with sensitive data and requires strong attention to data security and confidentiality protocols.

Role Responsibilities:



  • Data Source Management and Integration

    • Identify, evaluate, and document sustainability data sources across the organization
    • Coordinate data collection from various internal and external stakeholders
    • Develop standardized templates and processes for manual data collection
    • Validate and verify data quality from multiple sources
    • Create processes to consolidate data from disparate sources (manual inputs, systems, third-party providers)
    • Manage geospatial datasets related to environmental impact and supplier locations


  • Analytics and Insights Development

    • Perform complex analyses on environmental and social impact data
    • Conduct geospatial analysis for relevant environmental assessments
    • Conduct analyses to support performance tracking and forecasting
    • Analyze trends and patterns in environmental and social metrics
    • Support scenario analysis and impact assessments
    • Generate insights from combining various data sources
    • Lean into best-in-class collection processes and metrics and prior experience for analyzing insights to drive action
    • Provide a perspective on which sustainability KPIs should be prioritized for more meaningful impact, including continual monitoring of best in class and peer practices




  • Visualization and Reporting

    • Develop and maintain sustainability KPI tracking systems such as interactive dashboards using Power BI or other tools for various internal stakeholders
    • Create geospatial visualizations using ArcGIS or similar tools
    • Create automated reporting solutions where possible
    • Develop standardized visualization libraries for sustainability metrics
    • Support preparation of materials for external reporting


  • Systems and Tools Management

    • Coordinate with IS department on data systems access and integration
    • Maintain connections between various data sources and reporting platforms
    • Support implementation of new sustainability software solutions
    • Evaluate and recommend tools for improved data collection and analysis
    • Troubleshoot technical issues in reporting systems





Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:



  • Proven experience managing and analyzing data from multiple sources
  • Microsoft Office 365 suite, especially Excel for advanced analysis
  • Power BI or Tableau for dashboard development
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail in data analysis and validation
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear visualizations
  • Effective stakeholder communication and relationship management
  • Proficiency in SQL for data queries
  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills (VBA, PowerQuery, PowerPivot)
  • ArcGIS or similar GIS software for spatial analysis
  • ESG/sustainability data management systems
  • Background in sustainability metrics and KPIs
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks



Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Education -

    • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Environmental Science, or related technical field


  • Experience -

    • 2-5 years of experience in data analytics, sustainability reporting, or similar role
