Job Overview
The Retail Manager will serve as a strong leader in the Marvin Home Center (MHC). This person will lead a team of Assistant Retail Managers, salesclerks, cashiers, and stock associates in providing an excellent shopping experience for all customers.
Highlights of your role
Provide effective leadership which helps shape a culture of trust, communication, and collaboration.
- Manage strategic inventory planning and execution to include market-competitive SKUs, margin optimization, quick turns and limiting overstock in the retail store.
- Work with General Manager on product selection, merchandising and efficient buying, while establishing proper inventory levels for seasonal and staple products.
- Develop, inspire, and empower MHC team members on such items as merchandising, pricing, product knowledge, salesmanship and customer service.
- Ensure superior customer service is delivered in the store, by developing a team of highly trained associates, that are great problem solvers friendly and helpful to customers, are responsive and follow-up with customers through strong communication skills.
- Deliver a brand image that positions the Home Center as the place to go for great service and is a hub of the community with events and promotions that bring people into the store.
- Direct a business strategy determined by the General Manager for MHC in alignment with company plans and customer needs.
- Meet and exceed retail sales targets through analyzing sales data and planning with the General Manager.
- Gives recommendations to the General Manager of cost-effective strategies for advertising and marketing.
- Responsible for store opening and closing procedures.
- Address customer service issues, supplier issues and negotiations.
- Ability to manage payroll to sales and schedule based on work needs and life balance of staff.
Compensation
$60,900 - $81,000 annually
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, or related field highly preferred, but less formal education with more on-the-job experience may be substituted
- 5+ years of home center or hardware related retail management experience
- Able to manage and lead people in a team environment and work cross-functionally in a matrix management environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Good attitude and able to motivate others
- Good working knowledge of the products that are typically carried at the Home Center
- Good merchandising skills
Schedule: Monday - Friday varied hours; rotating weekend work required
