Job DescriptionThe Business Analyst for the Marketing Division at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is an individual contributor role responsible for providing data-driven insights, financial analysis, and strategic planning support. This role works closely with the Data & Analytics team to develop and maintain reporting tools relevant to the division, ensuring leadership has access to accurate and actionable data.

Additionally, the Business Analyst will support special projects, such as leading budget reduction exercises, tracking expenditures, and assisting with budget planning and requests. The role is also responsible for identifying and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the division's success and inform decision-making.

This highly collaborative role requires close partnerships with Marketing leadership, Enrollment, Finance, and the Data & Analytics teams to optimize operational efficiency and strategic alignment within the Marketing Division.

The Business Analyst-Marketing Division must consistently demonstrate the TSTC Core Values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity as an essential component of the role and a standard of individual performance. Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer's (CMO) Office and works closely with the Data & Analytics team, Finance, and Enrollment leadership.

Salary Range: $75,643.83- $86,990.40

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Key Areas of Focus
  • Data & Reporting Collaboration - Work with the Data & Analytics team to develop, maintain, and refine reporting tools and dashboards that support Marketing Division decision-making.

  • Financial Planning & Budget Analysis - Assist with budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and financial forecasting for the division.

  • Special Projects & Strategic Planning - Lead exercises related to budget cuts, departmental goal setting, and process optimization.

  • KPI Development & Performance Tracking - Identify, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for Marketing and Enrollment functions.

  • Insights & Recommendations - Provide data-driven insights and actionable recommendations to improve marketing strategies, budget allocations, and operational efficiency.

Role Responsibilities Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Partner with the Data & Analytics team to design, implement, and maintain reporting tools and dashboards for the Marketing Division.

  • Extract, analyze, and interpret data related to marketing performance, enrollment trends, and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure that leadership has access to accurate, real-time data for decision-making.

  • Work with IT and Institutional Research teams to validate data integrity and optimize reporting structures.

Financial Planning & Budget Oversight
  • Monitor budget expenditures, ensuring accurate tracking and alignment with financial goals.

  • Assist with budget forecasting, planning, and justification for departmental needs.

  • Lead budget reduction exercises, working with leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Prepare financial reports and analyses to support data-driven decision-making.

Special Projects & Strategic Planning
  • Conduct data-driven assessments to support departmental decision-making on resource allocation, staffing needs, and process improvements.

  • Assist in the development and refinement of departmental goals and budget requests.

  • Provide insights to optimize marketing spending, program effectiveness, and enrollment strategies.

  • Evaluate industry trends and best practices to ensure data-informed strategic planning.

KPI Development & Performance Tracking
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for Marketing and Enrollment functions.

  • Develop dashboards and reports to regularly monitor areas of success and concern.

  • Analyze data trends and provide actionable recommendations for performance improvement.

  • Present findings in clear, concise reports and visualizations for leadership and stakeholders.

Key Competencies & Skills
  • Data Analysis & Visualization - Strong ability to work with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics, or other data reporting tools.

  • Financial Acumen - Experience with budget tracking, forecasting, and financial planning.

  • Strategic Thinking - Ability to analyze data and provide insights that drive decision-making.

  • Project Management - Strong ability to manage multiple projects related to financial analysis, KPI tracking, and reporting.

  • Collaboration & Communication - Ability to work effectively with Marketing, Enrollment, Finance, and Institutional Analytics teams.

  • Presentation & Reporting - Strong written and verbal communication skills to present data-driven recommendations to leadership.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Data Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, financial planning, or performance tracking.

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio, or similar).

  • Strong knowledge of budgeting principles, financial analysis, and expenditure tracking.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets to provide actionable insights.

  • Experience with developing KPIs, tracking performance metrics, and reporting results.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments and present findings to leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Experience working in higher education, enrollment management, or marketing analytics.

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (Salesforce, Slate) and digital marketing analytics tools.

  • Strong experience in financial modeling, budget forecasting, and scenario analysis.

  • Experience presenting insights to executive leadership teams in a data-driven organization.
