International Shipping Coordinator

Position Purpose :

The Shipping Coordinator role ensures that warehouse inbound or outbound loads remain efficient and in accordance to OWI's freight policies. The Shipping Coordinator is the primary traffic contact and controls how product comes into and out of the warehouse. This is a 100% ONSITE position in Houston, TX with possibility of some travel to our corporate headquarters in Northbrook, IL or other locations as a company representative.

Main Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities of the Role:

• Generate TO's for daily shipments
• Set and maintain the outbound drayage & dock schedule.
• Respond to appointment requests, driver inquiries, and other communications
• Prepares paperwork for the shipment of orders.
• Familiar with International Shipping requirements
• Knowledge in Container loading and best handling practices
• Obtains signatures and maintains appropriate shipping paper documentation.
• Coordinates carrier routing per Customer requirements (Courtesy Routing).
• Work in unison with Operations Supervisor on prioritizing work to ensure Customer satisfaction.
• Delegate tasks to warehouse or forklift operators
• Develop & maintain shipment reconciliation policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• SAP & process training
• Work with management team on product knowledge
• Answer customer service inquiries regarding order and shipment status
• Work with other warehouse team members to effectively complete assigned tasks

Specific Business Partnering Responsibilities:

• Assist Warehouse Service Manager with overall management of facility
• Assist leadership with staffing, coordinating temp workers, and liaising with partner organizations

Specific Leadership Responsibilities:

This role will report to the Warehouse Service Manager and be the head of shipping/receiving/LTL at the Houston location.

Travel Requirements:

5% mostly to headquarters (Northbrook, IL) but may require travel to other locations as needed.

Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• High school diploma/GED required
• Previous warehouse experience 3-5 years
• Attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of SAP & Excel
• Comfortable working independently
• Teamwork, Dependable, and Reliable
• Fluent in Spanish
