Job Summary

Assist new and continuing students with Disability Resources and Services (DRS) at the main and north campuses. Assist student processes which include establishing a file with the DRS office, process and coordinate requests for alternative testing accommodations, note-taking accommodations, alternative format accommodations, equipment loans, and assistive technology accommodations. Assists in coordinating new student recruitment with high schools and local agencies. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, including the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Essential Functions

30% Assists in coordinating testing accommodations for students with disabilities. This role ensures that all eligible students receive the necessary support during exams to provide equal access and opportunities. Works closely with students, faculty, and staff to facilitate accommodations and maintain compliance with relevant laws and institutional policies

25% - Serves as the primary initial point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, addressing inquiries related to registration, testing, alternative formats, notetaking, and other program and accommodation information through in-person interactions, phone calls, and electronic communication

20% - This role involves converting textbooks, exams, and other educational materials into accessible formats such as Braille, large print, audio, and digital text. Assist students and escalate more complex cases to the appropriate level of student services

20 % - Maintain records and monitor student progress. Prepare and manage correspondence, reports, presentations, program materials, and documentation

5% - Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, customer service, or related student development programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Special Education
  2. Two (2) years of experience working with a diverse population of individuals with disabilities
  3. Two (2) years or more of experience utilizing student database software's, such as Accessible Information Management (AIM)
  4. Two (2) years or more of experience working in post-secondary with demonstrated knowledge of ADA and Section 504
  5. Two (2) years or more of experience with assistive technology and/or software used for creating alternative formats (e.g., screen readers, text-to-speech software)
  6. Two (2) years or more of experience in a testing center, educational setting, or in administering standardized tests


Special Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
