Job Summary
Ingersoll Rand is hiring a highly skilled and motivated Procurement Specialist to support our NA Welch team at our Sheboygan, WI facility. The Procurement Specialist builds and leverages strong working relationships with our engineering teams, operations teams, and key suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.
Responsibilities

  • Timely entry of necessary inventory orders to maintain production and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Review customer backlogs based on assigned manufacturing cells to gain a broad view of upcoming requirements. Coordinate with customer service and sales regarding backlogs.
  • Use MRP function to order materials needed to meet customer demands on time. Place POs with suppliers as MRP drives the requirements. If necessary, work with the supplier to expedite material.
  • Conduct or support negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Support site productivity through price negotiations and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Use customer backlog and MPS function to schedule orders per manufacturing cell based upon promised delivery dates. Create work orders for the appropriate quantity of units to satisfy the customer's order.
  • Seek to maximize efficiency by scheduling like jobs together whenever possible. Use given tools to ensure adequate safety stock is assigned to high-demand parts to meet potential spikes in customer demand or to mitigate supplier late deliveries. Review any provided customer forecasts or anticipated demand to ensure appropriate inventory is carried.
  • Support supplier segmentation, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and quarterly supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers.
  • Lead Procurement NPD activities through preferred supplier programs and RFQs.
  • Identify gaps to goals and collaboratively develop and support countermeasures and activities to close the gap and exceed targets.
  • Monitor purchase price variances and resolve discrepancies with internal team members and suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers to address significant and/or systemic issues with performance (quality, delivery, warranty, etc.) as may be required in support of plant Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality teams.
  • Coordinate with commodity teams, materials, operations, engineering, finance, quality, and field operations to complete projects and achieve expected benefits within the project timeline.
  • Manage reporting of Procurement financial metrics (forecast and actual) including productivity and inflation for responsible plants or projects. Support the development of the Annual Operating Plan for productivity projects, targets, and initiatives. Support standard setting process for responsible plants.
  • Support Commodity teams' goals by leading and executing supplier rationalization, quality, and delivery improvement projects. Work to align strategies between commodity and Sector localization, plant rationalization, and similar.
  • Plan production orders for the manufacturing team to meet customer expectations.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
  • Well-developed negotiation skills and assessing vendors.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word, is required. Proficiency using Excel at an advanced level (use financial and logical functions; work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; edit and use macros/import and export information) and Microsoft AX is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy, and using it to drive decisions as well as present results and business cases to management.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate effective leadership and influencing skills and practices.
  • Experience coordinating, facilitating discussions, consultation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability and willingness to understand and interact with diverse groups and cultures.
  • Evidence of skills & attributes including effective listening, gathering complete information, ensuring accuracy, problem-solving, negotiating, researching discrepancies, and handling conflict are critical.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet compressed deadlines, and handle frequent interruptions is essential.
  • Strong bias for action and results orientation.
  • Ability and willingness to respond quickly and appropriately in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and the flexibility to withstand challenging situations.
  • Oracle & SAP experience in a global environment is beneficial.
  • Quality inspection and understanding of how it operates in a production environment preferred.
