Job Overview:
Set up, operate, and tend machines to coat or paint any of a wide variety of metal products with lacquers, enamel, oil, or rust-proofing materials maintaining viscosity for application.
Responsibilities:
* Knowing and following all applicable environmental, health, and safety (EHS) rules in the performance of the job. * Participating and fully supporting safety programs (ex. BBS). Being punctual and reliable by observing all work rules. Learning and following the proper sequence of events/actions (SOE's) for the completion of each assigned job. * Using pneumatic paint spray system to produce a good quality paint coating on large assemblies. Perform quality checks, paint adhesions, paint thickness and cure. Correctly using and maintaining tools/equipment necessary for assembly & test operations. * Reading mechanical assembly drawings, production documents (ex.: Operational Method Sheets), work instructions, and quality documentation (ex.: assembly Travelers) to understand specifications and requirements of output. * Clean and prepare parts for paint. Maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas. * Taking measurements and completing production/quality documentation to record key measurements & operations during assembly and testing. * Checking output to ensure consistency with specifications and identifying defects. Keeping records of approved and defective units or final products. * Performing routine maintenance to production equipment and making minor adjustments/repairs to equipment as needed. Identifying and communicating maintenance and repair needs for production equipment to help prevent down-time.
Requirements:
* 3+ (one) or more years of experience as an industrial painter. * 2+ (two) or more years of experience rigging and utilizing overhead crane. * 2+ (two) or more years of experience reading and interpreting technical mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, and production documentation (ex.: Operation Method Sheets, work orders, Job Safety Hazard Analysis). * Capability of lifting up to 35 pounds on a regular basis. * Ability to pass and maintain a Powered Industrial Vehicle license (Forklift) Core Competencies:
* Proficient in the proper use and care of precision assembly tools (e.g., torque wrenches, quality gauges, pneumatic tools). * Proficient in the proper use and care of precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers) for accurate measurements. * Knowledge of and willingness to comply with all general work rules, policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and procedures. * Experience and solid working knowledge of mechanics, mechanical components, basic math, and mechanical systems. * Experience, or ability to learn, to apply a good quality paint coating on large assemblies using a compressed air paint spray system.
Preferences:
* High School Diploma or GED preferred. * Pressure washing experience is a plus. Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:
* This position will be based 100% onsite at our Mocksville, North Carolina facility. * Required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear continuously for 8-10 hours per day and occasionally on a sixth working day. * Pulling/pushing of tubs, up to a maximum of 50lbs. Regularly lift up to 35 pounds. * The employee will be required to use hoist systems if weight is above these amounts. * Exposed to moving mechanical parts, machining oils/coolants from handling coated parts and to coolant/oil mists which are below OSHA's permissible levels of exposure. * Normal noise in areas exposed to could range from 75-87 dBA; hearing protection is optional in these areas.
