Job Description

EBAD seeks a skilled Rapid Prototype Technician reporting to the Engineering Development Lead of Engineering Lab. The position is in Simsbury, CT.

Responsibilities:

The Rapid Prototype Technicianwill support the business capture and product development organizations by maintaining the "Innovation Garage" development area and executing 3D print jobs. The Technician will work independently on a broad range of development activities. Detailed responsibilities are as follows:

• Maintain a safe live explosive work area and advise engineers on best safety practices
• Maintain accurate live and inert inventory, including weekly audits
• Perform maintenance and cleaning of 3D printers, including working with the facilities team to safely dispose of hazardous waste material and coordinating with outside vendors
• Stock and maintain hand-tools
• Execute 3D print jobs
• Maintain and re-tock 3D print material inventory
• Assist as needed on energetic prototype fabrication and test

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience with the following skills:

• Handling, building, or testing explosive assemblies
• Maintaining accurate inventory
• Following written procedures
• Maintaining manufacturing or test equipment, including working with outside vendors on repairs and maintenance
• Safe operation of hand-held power tools

And has an ability and desire to learn:

• Operation of 3D printers
• Basic 3D modelling
• Fabrication of test fixtures

Desired skills:

• 3D printing including software, material postprocessing, and an understanding of the materials involved
• Understanding of material strengths
• Solid Works or other Cad modeling
• Engineering test instrumentation and data collection
• Microsoft Office
