Job Summary:
The Repair Technician is to perform complete repairs on customer equipment for Roots and non-Roots equipment in the Service Center. The Repair Technician will be responsible for working within the overall Service Center team to accomplish the goals of the business in the areas of EHS, Quality, On-Time Delivery, Operating Costs, and Productivity improvements.

Responsibilities:
* Performs necessary disassembly, diagnosis, inspection, and reassembly to a wide variety of blowers, pumps, and compressors (Roots and non-Roots units). Inspection may include visual and/or instrument examination. Evaluates the condition of existing parts/components, for possible reuse or replacement. Performs any tests such as slip or leak tests, including MT and PT examinations (magnetic particle and penetrant testing). Secures units and/or parts, and prepares for shipment. Duties include some painting and foam packing.
* Operate any/all Roots equipment necessary to accomplish the repair and rebuild of all customer units. Perform certified TIG and arc welding necessary to make minor repairs to rotating equipment.
* Completes written records, such as check sheets, clearances, pressure tests, inspection reports, etc., required by job order.
* Operates various torches to perform heating or cutting in the disassembly and repair of units.
* Operates fork truck, overhead crane, company car or pickup truck, for the purpose of loading, unloading, or transporting parts/units to, from, and within the Service Center.
* Maintains a clean and orderly work area, including such duties as sweeping, emptying trash containers, spillage cleanup, and disposing of scrap parts in the shop, and stacking and organizing parts/units in storage/staging areas within the Service Center. Willingness to work with other employees in a team environment. Observes plant rules and safe working practices.

Requirements:
* High School Diploma, or equivalent.
* 3+ Years of Repair/Mechanic Technician experience

Core Competencies:
* Understand shop practices and safety regulations applicable to work
* Be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have good interpersonal, communication and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail

Preferences:
* Ability to operate a fork truck and overhead crane
* Ability to interpret, comprehend and write English
* Ability to lift 25 lbs. during normal work activities
* TIG or arc welding qualified
* Experience in rotating equipment repair

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
* This position will be based in Houston, Texas, with no travel.
