Carpenter Foreman SUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter Foreman that will provide oversight to project carpentry crews and coordinate, implement and supervise all self-performed work. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure proper IWP is in place and understood by the crew; examine blueprints to determine structure dimensions
- Lay out floor plans and cabinetwork using tape, framing square, and calipers
- Select and inspect materials and structural units (lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets, paneling) for code compliance
- Concrete and rough carpentry:
- Hand set walls
- Footings
- Set gang wall forms
- Structural concrete decks
- Slab on metal deck and grade
- Concrete columns
- Drywall
- Finish carpentry, doors and hardware
- Set door frames, hang doors, and install hardware
- Finish carpentry: install toilet accessories, hand rails, corner guards, toilet partitions, lockers, upper cabinets, lower cabinets, countertops, wall paneling systems, coffered ceiling systems and running trim
- Inspect subcontractor work (ductwork, wiring, pipe installations) for specification conformance
- Install doors, build stairs, lay hardwood floors, and perform concrete and rough carpentry (hand set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, slabs, columns, drywall)
- Perform finish carpentry (set door frames, hang doors, install hardware, toilet accessories, handrails, partitions, lockers, cabinets, countertops, wall paneling, coffered ceilings, running trim)
- Lead team members by example, offer coaching and feedback, build relationships with diverse individuals, and perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience
- Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, read plans, and operate equipment (table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems)
- Some ability to read plans
- Ability to operate equipment such as: table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging and form systems
- Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience
- Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
- *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
