Job Description
Job Overview Pouching Inspector/Packer will support all the Pouching department to optimize output and minimize waste while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards. Assist in the manufacture of quality products (per customer standards) as determined by the production schedule and or supervisor. To gain understanding of the technical knowledge required in the manufacturing process and will continuously improve skills and productivity through teamwork. Performing housekeeping chores as needed, to maintain a safe and orderly work environment. Job Duties:
- Ability to proficiently perform duties of Inspector/Packer
- Assist all operators on assigned shift, when need, including activities such as (but not limited to):
- Run machine through breaks
- Assist on all changeovers that occur during shift
- Start-up and shutdown equipment
- Train new Inspector/Packers and Inspector/Operators
- Operate computers to monitor and change process variables
- Communicate via shift logs and provide proper relief to assure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the plant
- Inspect raw materials and finished product
- Conduct product inspection by visually inspecting finished product, monitor equipment and process conditions to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
- Responsible for safety of yourself and others around you
- Ensuring quality of the product being manufactured
- Acquire knowledge of operations and equipment, instrumentation, operation processes, etc.
- Maintaining high awareness to waste and productivity standards
- Maintain housekeeping for assigned area
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Qualifications/Requirements Formal Qualifications and Experience
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Technical and mechanical knowledge of bag/pouch machines preferred
- HS diploma or equivalent/Technical experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviors
- Proficient mathematical and measurement skills. Knowledge of metric conversions.
- Mechanical knowledge of and ability to adjust gauges, scales and hand tools
- Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards
- Knowledge of pouch/bag making and film handling fundamentals, trouble shooting is desirable
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read dimensional graphic templates in both metric/standard and apply to finished product
- Basic computer skills
- Work safely in a progressive manufacturing environment
- Ability to read a ruler to mm or 1/32"
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings
- Regular attendance.
- Frequent interaction with others.
- Must have the ability to work in a team-based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
- Standing up to 12 hours per day
- Frequent use of hands and wrists.
- Required to stand, sit, squat, bend, walk, lift (as noted above) and climb frequently throughout the day on a daily basis
- 100% of the time spending in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to wear all personal protective equipment as required.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling and bending.
