Job description: Senior Scientist to assist and support scientific investigation to study biological markers from banked samples of neurological disorders as directed in the Department of Neurology, Division of Neurogenetics and the Neurobiology of Aging and Resilience Center; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including: sorting and processing human tissues, sectioning frozen human brain tissue, staining tissues, isolating DNA/RNA from blood or human tissues, and prepping sectioned tissues for single cell sequencing; tests and evaluates current procedures; optimizes procedures for data quality; evaluates validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; prepares data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; works with principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed; maintains working relationship with technology partners and vendors.

Minimum Education

Master's Degree, PhD or equivalent experience required.

Minimum Qualifications

5-6 years of relevant experience required.
