Functions as Department Administrator for Department of Cancer Biology amp; Genetics (CBG) and Department of Molecular Medicine Therapeutics. This role will also work in conjunction with the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) and Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute (DHLRI), when applicable. Directs and oversees daily operational activities including human resources, marketing amp; communications, compliance, and internal controls; monitors and assigns daily administrative tasks for Office Admin Assistant/Associate, if applicable; actively participates in development and implementation of short and long range strategic vision, goals and objectives, as well as operational and administrative policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established operational processing environments; monitors and evaluates space usage; oversees audits of research operations, space, and assets to ensure compliance to local, state and federal research regulations, and building health and safety requirements; determines information and data to be submitted in response to internal amp; external audits; investigates and provides recommendations for resolution of conflict of interest claims; actively participates in recruitment of faculty and distinguished researchers; participates in onboarding newly hired faculty and staff; manages all human resources activities, operations, and processing in consultation with the College of Medicine Human Resources Office; projects staffing requirements; hires, trains, supervises and evaluates administrative support staff and students; assigns and monitors workloads; administers and oversees performance management process, as well as the salary increase budget process in collaboration with the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Finance Manager and Executive Director in CoM OR; investigates and participates in resolution of employee concerns and performance issues; interprets and advises leadership on university policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience of education and experience with a Major in business administration or health services management amp; policy Additional Education Desired: Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. Required Qualifications 8 years of relevant experience required. 12 years of relevant experience preferred. Experience in an administrative or management capacity required, preferably in an academic medical center; experience managing an academic program or department desired; experience in a supervisory capacity desired; knowledge of University and/or departmental policies, rules and regulations desired; reasonable knowledge of accounting principles and applications required; experience and/or knowledge of a research environment desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical.
