Job Description

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is looking for a potenital qualified Contract Ultrasound Technician to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, providing essential diagnostic imaging services.

Job Posting: Ultrasound Technician

Location: Long Beach VAMC, CA

Shift Hours:

    Day: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (8-hour shift)

  • Evening: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM (8-hour shift)

  • Weekend: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM (10-hour shift)

Qualifications:
  • Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) work experience required; AGFA PACS experience preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of current work experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

  • Current and valid American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) certification with up-to-date Continuing Medical Education.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging.

  • Independently operate ultrasound equipment and collaborate effectively within a team.

  • Maintain quality assurance standards and comply with facility protocols.

  • Set up exam rooms and perform clerical duties such as sending images to PACS and post-processing.

  • Assess the acceptability of scans and coordinate technical procedures for accurate diagnoses.

  • Conduct various ultrasound examinations including abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and musculoskeletal studies.

  • Prioritize critical cases and coordinate patient care with other medical professionals.

  • Assist interventional radiologists with procedures such as cyst punctures, aspirations, and biopsies using sterile techniques.

  • Ensure patient identity verification and obtain necessary clinical data.

  • Maintain and sanitize ultrasound equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene protocols.

  • Communicate with nursing staff and other healthcare providers regarding imaging needs.

  • Keep track of supply levels and notify supervisors of any shortages.
