This position involves multiple functions and tasks associated Rumpke's property and casualty insurance program. Specifically, the Risk Analyst will communicate with third-party insurance brokers, customers, vendors, and Rumpke's senior risk management team, managing policy issuance and review, and managing certificates of insurance, contract insurance language, among others. Under the area of insurance policy and claims administration, the Risk Analyst also includes annual insurance renewal tasks and responsibilities, managing insurance endorsements with Rumpke's legal and finance team members, and claims verification, processing, assessment, and reconciliation.

Responsibilities of Position:



  • Collect and manage current and historical exposure information and prepare annual underwriting submissions on a timely basis for all risk financing/insurance programs.
  • Assist with review of insurance terms in contracts, bids or RPF's and communicate with related insurance brokers for issues, questions, and/or related language clarification.
  • Arrange for timely payment of costs associated with risk management, maintain accurate records of risk expenditures, and assist in the preparation of annual insurance budget.
  • Coordinate with Rumpke's insurance brokers to respond to requests for certificates of insurance, as well as requests for loss runs/claims history and related detail.
  • In coordination with Rumpke's finance and legal departments, assists in managing insurance procurement, as well as developing and implementing risk management and compliance strategies/procedures.
  • Evaluates and provides recommendations regarding carriers, deductible, limits, etc., on various types of insurance coverage, including but not limited to: Property, Casualty, General Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Cyber.
  • Manage the endorsement of new locations applicable to Property and Casualty coverages, as well as Pollution Liability coverage.
  • Manage Property or Builders' Risk coverage and claims administration as well as actual Builders' Risk placements.
  • Assist with insurance due diligence review for acquisitions.
  • Provide audit information as requested for Workers Comp, General Liability, Auto Liability coverage, as well as Insurance Captive and other coverages if applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:



  • Must be able to work independently, multi-task, be well organized, and detail oriented.
  • Analytical: know how to analyze incoming data, connect the dots with existing information and update company policies to reflect changes. Knowledge of predictive models is crucial.
  • Mathematical: must pay close attention to the deductible for claims payouts and do all they can to ensure the payouts do not exceed this amount.
  • Technical: knowledge of basic computer programs and be a quick learner to adapt to the proprietary software the insurance company uses.
  • Communication: must be able to translate complex information into an easy-to-understand form that other professionals you work with can use.
  • Organizational: requires not just communication skills but the ability to organize data and input from each one to arrive at sound decisions used for policy updates.



Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:



  • 2-3 years in insurance industry, required.
  • Knowledge of commercial property and casualty coverage preferred.



Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:



  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10lbs.
  • Continuously sitting/standing/walking in office environment.



Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:



  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
