Summary:

A 52-week post-graduate educational training program under the direction of an advanced pharmacy preceptor(s).

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline overlooking Corpus Christi Bay is the largest and foremost acute care medical facility in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It is the leading emergency facility in the area with a Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.


  • The Pavilion and North Tower house a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab and surgical suites
  • A teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine
  • Accredited Chest Pain Center
  • Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team

Responsibilities:


  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Develops knowledge, skills, and experience to become an advanced pharmacy clinician who manages and improves the medication use process ensuring safe, appropriate, and cost-effective therapies for patients.
  • Develops and expands upon the knowledge and skills required to provide evidence based, patient-centered medication therapy management within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Develops leadership skill to effect change within the pharmacy clinical and operation sections of acute care hospitals.
  • Expands upon and improves the pharmacotherapeutic knowledge and communication skills required to provide medication, therapeutics, and practice related education.
  • Develops the knowledge and skills to utilize medical informatics by utilizing the informatics tool available at CHRISTUS.
  • Assumes roles and responsibilities also listed in Clinical Pharmacist I job description.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills


  • Graduate from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program required


Experience


  • No experience required


Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications


  • Must be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure within 90 days from first day of employment unless a formal program extension is approved for extenuating circumstances, as guided per ASHP.
  • BLS and either ACLS or PALS (if pediatric practice) within 180 days of start date.
